About

TaxFormDesk publishes plain-English, line-by-line guides to completing United States state and federal tax forms. Each guide explains what a form is, who has to file it, when it is due, where it goes, and how to fill in every line, box, and schedule.

Who this is for

People who have been handed a specific tax form and need to understand it — employees, renters and homeowners, freelancers and small-business owners, and anyone helping a family member file. The guides are written for a general audience, not for tax professionals.

How we verify our guides

Every guide is built directly from the current official form and its instructions published by the issuing agency — a state Department of Revenue or the Internal Revenue Service.

  • Figures are taken from the form itself. Tax rates, dollar thresholds, deadlines, and mailing addresses are read from the official document, and each guide shows them together in a “Key Figures” box with the form’s revision date.
  • Every guide carries a “last verified” date. When an agency reissues a form, we re-check the guide against the new version and update that date.
  • Uncertain figures are flagged. Where a number may have changed for a later year, the guide marks it and tells you to confirm it with the agency before you file.

We are not the government

TaxFormDesk is an independent publisher. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any state Department of Revenue, the Internal Revenue Service, or any other government agency. Official forms are always linked to the agency that issues them.

This is not tax advice

The guides are general information. They are not legal, tax, or financial advice, and reading one does not create a professional relationship. Tax situations vary; when yours is unusual or the stakes are high, talk to a qualified tax professional.
